In this example we will convert a Magic or
Axas Cam to a
Matrix Reloaded Cam using a Cass (version 1) Interface
The procedure is exactly the same for converting back to
a Magic Cam if you so wish, the exception being you must
select the correct xilinx file first this is explaind in detail later.
Once you have carefully inserted the cas
card into the
Magic/Axas Cam (pins facing upwards)and connected the
9vdc power supply and the LTP cable to the cas interface
Insert the Cam into the receivers cam slot and turn on
the receiver, now open the Cas Interface v2.1 Studio and
Click 'Connect' see screen shot below.

Once connected you should get verification
(see screen shot below)
Now you click the 'Erase All' button the cam will now be erased
you will se a progress counter on the botom right counting from
0-34 this process takes a short time to complete

Once erased you can now write the xilinx
file it is possible
to write the MR1.O55 file directly onto the cam without the
xilinx file but if you do that the cam will function normally
for approx 30mins then give the 'Invalid Cam' message.
So it is important to write the xilinx file before the MR1.055 file.
Click on the 'xilinx function Write' button
(its the bottom button with the red border) see screen shot below

Now a pop-up screen will be displayed
allowing you to locate the
xilink file, select the correct folder where you downloaded the
xilink file to and then select the correct file, you will see
two files displayed in the folder the 'Matrix' and the 'Magic'
as we are converting to a Matrix select the 'Matrix Cas' file
If you were converting a Matrix Reloaded back to a Magic cam
you would select the 'Magic Cas' file the procedure is exactly
the same with the exception of selecting the correct xilink file
Once you have selected the xilink file it will be automatically written

Now its time to select the MR1.055 file
Click 'Open File' see screen shot below

As previously a pop-up screen will be
displayed allowing you to
locate the MR1.055 file, select the correct folder where you
downloaded the MR1.055 file to and then select the MR1.055 file,
see screen shot below

Once you have selected the MR1.055 file
All you need do now is click 'Write'the
second button down under Flash Functions
see screen shot below once you click the
'Write' button the writing process will
start and can take between 30 - 40 mins
to complete so be patient once completed
you will get a verification message saying
all was okay
Read this if you get a buzy / error
message:-
Using an Echostar receiver I once encountered the buzy/error message,
the only way I found to bypass this error, was to use another receiver
in place of the Echostar, then the cas will be okay to use on the Echostar receiver the
next timr you need update your cam, without encounting the buzy/error message.

And your cam will now be recognised as an
MR1.055 and not as a Magic cam in your receivers cam menu.
All files require for the above procedure
