Here we shall change the background image on a TM1000 Series receiver.
Please Note only images upto and including v2.07 can be modified.

To alter any or all the default images within the TMFirmware
you will be required to re-size the image to get the best
possible fit, and then convert the image to an mpg.file
All this is quite simple to do, as you are about to see.

First thing we shall do is resize the image you wish to add
most graphic editors off you this option of resizing, in this
example I shall use InfraView.
We open infraview and select the file we wish to resize,
Now click the yellow folder.

Now select the image you are going to modify, and
then click the Open button

Now the image has loaded into the graphic editor
we can start to resize it, the optical image size is
720x576 pixels.
Click Image then select Resize Resample.

In the width box type in the size 720
in the hight box type in 576
make sure the units are set to pixels
and do not select the Preserve aspect ratio.
Now click the OK button to save the settings.

Now we have set the image size to the correct values,
all we need do now is save the resized file,
Click File then Save as.

I find it easier to overwrite the original file with the modified one,
so select the file and click Save.
If your unsure, it may be better to either make a copy of the original
image file, or re-name it, as if you overwrite the original image and then
realise you made an error, you will also overwritten the original
with the same error.

If you do intend to overwrite the original image file
with the modified file, then all you need do is click
the Yes button to overwrite the original image file.

Now that we have an image that is set to the correct size,
we can convert it to an mpg format, otherwise it will not be
recognised by the firmware.
Open pic2mpg converter and click the ... button.

Now select the image file we just resized,
and click Open

Now the file has been loaded all you need do is click
the Image Convert button.

Once the conversion has completed click Close.
the converted file can now be located in the same
folder where the original image file is placed.

Open the Stb->Bin converter, click file then Open stb file

Now we need to convert the saved bin.file back to a stb.file
open the stb->bin converter and click file and Open bin file.

207_14.jpg (25471 bytes)

Locate and select the stb file then click Open

Once the file has loaded you will see the following screen

Once the conversion from stb -> bin is completed
you will get a confirmation popup box.
Click OK to close the box, and close the converter

207_16.jpg (23811 bytes)

Now open the Editor207, this is where we shall add the new imge files.
Click File and Open bin.

207_2.jpg (17691 bytes)

Locate and select the bin file and then click Open.

207_3.jpg (22699 bytes)

Once the file is loaded into the Editor, you will then get full access
to do the modifications to certain keys, and images.
You can also re-name the file and date, the version can not be altered,
but you can add a mod number if you so wish, here we added the mod
as L.

Select the image you wish to change, here we are changing
image 7, so click on the Change Image 7 button.

Once you have located the image, select it and click Open.

If the image is within the parameters and is the correct type
you will get a confirmation popup box letting you know
the image has been changed without any problem.
Click OK

Now decide what image you wish to change, here we shall change
the backgroung image, so we click the background drop down menu
and select Image 7, as this was the one we just changed.
You can if you wish change all the images to image 7, or you
can add new images for each image option, the choice is yours.

As you now see the background image has been set to Image 7.

mod_image16.jpg (50805 bytes)

Once you have set the images correctly, all you need do now
is save the file, click File then Save changes, the file is then
saved automatically.

207_6.jpg (62518 bytes)

Now we need to convert the saved bin.file back to a stb.file
open the stb->bin converter and click file and Open bin file.

Now locate the folder where you stored the saved bin.file
and select the file and click Open

Next you will have to tell the programme what receiver & model
you are using, click the drop down menu and make your selection
in this example we are using the Technomate 1500CI.

Once you have correctly selected the correct receiver
you can clivk OK to start the conversion.
Also keep the two boxes checked CRC Fix & Checksum Fix.

Once the conversion starts, you will see no activity,
this is normal, so do not think the programme has
froze or crashed in any way, just be a little patient.

As soon as the conversion has completed, you will see the confirmation
pop up box, all you need do now is click OK and close down the converter.

207_23.jpg (10670 bytes)

The final step uploading our modified firmware to the receiver.
Open TM Loader v1.84, make sure it is set on Software, set the
correct com port, if your unsure which com port your connected to
click the Auto Detect button, this will then set the com port for you.
And do not forget to connect your null modem cable between
your receiver and your computer.

Click the browse button, and locate the modified firmware you just made.

Once you have located the modified firmware, select it and click Open.

With the modified firmware loaded, all you need do now is upload it
to your receiver as normal, so to beguin click Connect to TM, and
then follow the instructions untill the upload has completed.

You have now modified the firmware and uploaded it to your receiver.
You can now start using your receiver as normal.
